Radiological Safety Awareness

This is an introductory level course for disaster volunteers to learn the fundamental concepts of a dirty bomb. The goal of this training is to provide comprehensive information to volunteers on radiation and hazards associated with dirty bomb responses. At the end of this training, disaster volunteers will understand the basics of radiation, a dirty bomb, and how to protect oneself against radioactive contamination, and other hazards.

Managing and Protecting Community Vaccination Center Volunteers

Managers will learn ways to manage Community Vaccination Center Volunteers with their physical and emotional safety in mind. Learn to make informed decisions on how to place manage and provide support to your volunteers. Develop the skills that ensure the implementation of protocols that prevent against COVID-19 exposure and emotional health.
Volunteer Placement and Planning for Disaster Supervisors

This is a leadership level course for volunteer managers and organizational leaders to gain a detained understanding on spontaneous volunteerism management. At the end of this enhanced training, leaders and managers will learn to assess their disaster response capabilities, develop a plan to place affiliated and spontaneous volunteers to fill surge capacity needs, and learn key volunteer management practices for everyday hazards.
Managing Managers Stress in Disaster Response

At the end of the Resiliency training, individuals will be able to ensure personal safety and emotional well-being as a disaster volunteer, learn and practice stress mitigation techniques, and be able to address natural disasters such as flood, fires, and earthquakes. This enhanced training allows individuals to understand the role supervisors can play in maintaining a healthy team
Complex Disaster Response Planning

Complex Disaster Response planning takes into account the hazards and risks associated with responding to or working in an environment where there are two or more disasters active at one time. In this training we will use COVID-19 and Hurricane Season as an example

Just-in-Time Training
This training offers 15-minute lessons using films and other media to increase skills and awareness of precautions and safety measures that can be taken before, during, and after a disaster. The goal of these trainings is to deliver information on a specific topic quickly, providing valuable disaster preparedness, response and recovery tips to keep you safe.
General Readiness Training
This training was is developed with the general public in mind, as it provides awareness of disaster prevention, response, and recovery techniques and plans that everyone can use. Courses provide instruction and strategies for household hazard mitigation, disaster preparation and recovery, as well as information for those interested in becoming a disaster volunteer. The training will further educate, empower, and ensure safety and skills for everyone.
Disaster Volunteerism (DV) Introductory training increases awareness and skills regarding hazard identification and safety
measures that can be taken before, during, and after a disaster. Disasters have an enormous impact on global, national, state-wide, and local environments both during and post-impact. The goal of these courses is to provide detailed information to effectively increase volunteer skills, understanding, and implementation of disaster-response services.
This training is for volunteers who are looking to increase their knowledge on how to safely respond to specific disasters. This enhanced level offers more complex and detailed instruction to develop skills and prevent accidents and exposure to hazards. Topics include hazard identification, risk assessment and reduction, personal protection equipment, and safely assisting in extreme physical situations.
This course is designed for leaders who manage volunteers and workers. This level gives them the tools to assess their programs’ risks and safely place their teams in the right roles. Learners will acquire beneficial skills to perform risk assessments, develop plans and coordinate teams, and be ready to respond safely and effectively.
