On October 29, 2012 Superstorm Sandy struck leaving devastation in its wake. World Cares Center’s response included the opening of three volunteer reception centers, one in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Far Rockaway, Queens.

Our response lasted until 2015 and included the distribution of millions of dollars in supplies, training and managing 22,000 volunteers and muck and gutting 1400 homes in preparation for rebuild. All this could not have been possible with out the collaboration of our many partners. We are honored to have served with you: Ready Rockaway, the Southern Baptists, ICNA, Presbyterian Disaster Relief, Rebuild, Habitat for Humanity, NYCEM, NYCVOAD, NYCares, Salvation Army, NECHAMA and many more.

As we commemorate the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy we are also now active in the same areas of Staten Island helping the community recover from Hurricane Ida. Please check out our Volunteer Requests to apply to help.

Thank you!
